The Problem

Researchers, developers, and hobbyists need a single, up‑to‑date directory of papers, tools, benchmarks, and demos that focus on robot‑use agents. Existing lists are fragmented across GitHub repos, blogs, and conference proceedings, making it hard to discover the right resources for a given project.

What This Does

The repository hosts a static website that aggregates those resources.

  • website/README.md explains the project’s scope.
  • website/citations.json and website/previews.json supply the data that drives the listings.
  • assets/ holds images, logos, and preview thumbnails that give each entry visual context.
  • website/build.py and website/build_space.py are Python scripts that transform Markdown or JSON metadata into the final static pages served by Express in website/app.js.

How It Is Wired

Entry Point – website/app.js

const express = require('express');
const app = express();
app.use(express.static('website'));

The server serves the pre‑generated files in the website/ directory.

Build Pipeline – website/build.py

  • Reads website/README.md, website/citations.json, and Markdown files under website/previews/.
  • Generates website/index.html and individual resource pages.
  • Writes any updated metadata.json that the front‑end consumes via AJAX.

Auxiliary Checks –

  • website/check_analytics.cjs – verifies that the analytics script is correctly embedded.
  • website/check_browser.cjs – tests browser compatibility of the generated HTML.
  • website/check_links.py – scans all URLs for dead links before a release.

External Dependencies – The only external service is Express; all other assets are static. Because the site is static, a single request to website/app.js results in a file read from disk and an HTTP response; no database or external API calls are made during rendering.

How To Use It

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/moses-y/Awesome-Robot-Use-Agent
cd Awesome-Robot-Use-Agent

# Install Python build deps
pip install -r website/requirements.txt

# Build the static site
python website/build.py
# (Optionally build the space‑optimized version)
python website/build_space.py

# Run the local server
npm install express # only if you don’t already have it
node website/app.js

No environment variables are required. The site is accessible at http://localhost:3000 by default.

Real‑World Use

A robotics lab can host the site on GitHub Pages or a private intranet. Each time new papers or demos are added, run the build scripts and redeploy. Teams can also use the metadata.json API to programmatically query the curated list and auto‑generate internal dashboards.

Code Health & Issues

  • Low – No lockfile for website/requirements.txt → non‑reproducible installs.
  • Low – No package.json for the Express server → missing npm lockfile.
  • Low – CI workflow (.github/workflows/pages.yml) only builds the site; no tests cover the Express server.

No critical security or licensing issues were detected.

The Bottom Line

The repo delivers a ready‑to‑deploy static site that curates robot‑use agent resources. Its build pipeline is straightforward, but the lack of lockfiles and minimal test coverage mean that contributors should add a requirements.txt.lock and a package-lock.json to stabilize future builds. Teams that need a quick, up‑to‑date reference page will find this repository useful; those requiring automated deployment pipelines may need to add a container image or CI step.
